Susan Fife-Ferris, Director of Solid Waste Planning & Program Management

Susan Fife-Ferris is the Director of Solid Waste Planning & Program Management for Seattle Public Utilities, where she provides leadership and directs all aspects of the City of Seattle’s solid waste planning and program development and delivery, including the management of $125+ million in annual service contracts. Susan has close to 30 years of experience in all aspects of the solid waste management industry, with a focus on strategic and long-range planning, policy development, and program design that is customer centered. Susan previously oversaw all aspects of environmental programs and communications for the City of Bellevue’s Utilities Department and was a part-owner of Sound Resource Management Group.

Before venturing into the environmental arena, Susan was a lawyer with a large law firm in Seattle, specializing in municipal finance and general municipal law, where she was involved in the drafting of Washington’s “Waste Not Washington Act.”

Susan received her bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a law degree from the University of Southern California.
